Sparrow is a playable bird in Feather Family. It was added on August 5th, 2018.

Overview

Hatchling

The hatchling is a tiny bird with a conical beak. It has large eyes and a large, generally round head. It has feathers coming from above its beak to its cap, forming a tuft at the end. It has a round body with sparse pointy feathers on its back. Its wings are thin and average length for a chick. Its tail is a clump of downwards-facing feathers that changes position for certain animations. Each foot has three toes in front and one in the back.

Adult

The adult is a small bird with a short, conical beak. It has a mask extending from its beak to around its eyes. Its cap is distinctly colored and so are its throat, nape, and a small part above the end of the mask. Its body is slender with a large underside and medium sized wings. Its tail is long and usually folded into a skinny strip, but can span out. Each foot has three toes in front and one in the back, each with a talon.

Hatchling

• Run - Increases ground speed, speeds up walk cycle.
• Call - Faces head upwards and gently lifts wings to make a light cheep.
• Sit - Sits down with head on ground.
• Eat - Leans down and lifts wings to rapidly scoop group while moving tail.
• Hurt - Falls on its left with left leg dangling high and left wing stretched out.
• Eyes - Toggles eyes being shut.

Adult

• Run - Increases ground speed, speeds up walk cycle.
• Call - Quickly lifts rear while making a quick cheep.
• Sit - Sits down.
• Eat - Leans down to bite ground twice, then lift head to bite once then twitches head right to bite again.
• Hurt - Falls forward with head angled to the right and rear lifted.
• Display - Lifts rear up high and faces its left, beating its wings three times before twitching its head and rear to the right.
• Preen - Cleans left coverts with beak while rear is lifted slightly to the left.
• Eyes - Toggles eyes being shut.
• Fly - Sparrow takes flight, can fly for infinite time.

Trivia

• Sparrow is the first regular playable visible on the menu screen, and the second playable at all behind Egg.
• Sparrow is the first bird to release alongside a biome.
• Sparrow is the second bird to get two full remodels, the first being Owl.
• For a while, Sparrow was the smallest bird in the game, and remains one of the smallest.
• In the update introducing beak carrying, Sparrow was featured being held by Eagle.
