Sapeornis is a playable bird in Feather Family. It's the second bird of the 2023 Summer of Fossils event, being released on June 23rd, 2023.

Appearance

Chick

The chick is small primarily gray bird with a brown face and underbelly. It has a duller gray mouth-like beak and a small head crest. Its wings and tail are small while its feet are rather skinny and pink. Its eyes are red.

Adult

The adult is a primarily gray bird with lighter gray on its underbelly and legs. Its face, neck, wings, rear leg feathers and lower tail are black, with its face having yellow markings around the eyes, on its short head crest and as a streak on the back of its neck. Its secondary feathers and upper tail are also yellow. It has two claws on each wing as well as small teeth in its mouth. Its beak and feet are orange and its eyes are red.

• Display - Repeatedly bites before pumping its wings while having its tail lifted up.

• Eyes - Opens or closes eyes.
• Fly - Sapeornis takes flight. Can only fly for a certain amount of time.

Trivia

• Sapeornis is the fourth avialan in the game, with the others being Archaeopteryx, Confuciusornis and Jeholornis. It is the newest and cheapest of the four.
  • By coincidence or not, sapeornis is the third avialan to be the second addition of its Summer of Fossils event, with Archaeopteryx being the second addition in 2020's event and Jeholornis being the second addition in 2022's event.
• With its 'NEW' label on the menu screen, the S at the start of its name is covered, making it appear as 'apeornis'.
• When the adult activates or deactivates Hurt, one of its wings fully clips through its body to go into position.
