Rhea is a playable bird in Feather Family. It was added on May 17th, 2024.

Overview

Chick

The chick is a medium sized, tall bird with a long neck and long dark brown legs. Each leg has a three toed foot. The cap of its head is dark brown while the rest of it and the neck are pale brown. Its eyes are brown and its beak is gray. Its body and wings are light gray with large brown stripes on the body. Its underside is white and its tail is brown.

Adult

The adult is a large, tall bird with a long neck and long pale gray legs. Each leg has a three toed foot with a gray talon on each toe. The cap of its head is dark brown while the rest of it and the upper neck are pale brown. The base of its neck is black. Its eyes are brown and its beak is gray. Its body, tail, and coverts are all stone gray. The wings have light gray primaries and black secondaries. Its underside is pale white.

• Run - Increases walking speed. Triggers running animation.
• Call - Makes a long and faint whistle-like tweet.
• Sit - Sits down with legs pulled back.
• Eat - Leans head down to repeat cycle of biting twice then swallowing with two bites.
• Hurt - Falls forwards with neck stretched forwards and legs stretched backwards, both slightly to the side.
• Eyes - Closes or opens eyes.

Adult

• Run - Increases walking speed. Triggers running animation.
• Call - Makes a two part low booming noise.
• Sit - Sits down.
• Eat - Leans head down to repeat cycle of biting then swallowing.
• Hurt - Curls up with its head out to the right and its right wing stretched out.
• Display - Stands tall and sways head to the sides in smooth bursts, ducking the head in the middle of each sway. Wings beat at the end of each sway and tail occasionally beats.
• Preen - Cleans underside of right wing with beak.
• Eyes - Opens or closes eyes.
• Fly - Displays a message stating that the rhea is flightless.

Trivia

• Rhea is the first bird of 2024 to be cheaper than the bird preceding it, for Rhea being Gannet.
• Rhea, Moa, and Elephant Bird are the only ratites not involved in the Ratites Event. Of these, Rhea is the only one to not be part of Summer of Fossils.
