Peryton is a playable bird in Feather Family. It was added on December 15th, 2023. It is a game pass bird, and can be purchased here.

Appearance

Egg

The egg takes the shape of the regular Egg with an identical smaller shape inside it. The larger outside is a light blue and semi-transparent. The smaller inside is glowing blue.

Fawn

The fawn has the build of a small deer, with a long torso and four legs. It has a large head with a whitish-brown face ending in a small gray beak. It has white sharp teeth in its mouth behind the beak. It has large eyes with black pupils, blue irises and white sclera. Around the face is a somewhat light brown that runs from the head across the neck to the sides of the body. It has two rhombus shaped ears on top of its head. Its throat and underbelly are white while its back is dark brown with white spots. It has small wings on its sides. Its coverts are the same color as its sides with the secondary coverts being a lighter brown and both the primaries and secondaries being white. It has a deer-like tail with a light brown top and white underside covered by large tail feathers which are dark brown on the top with white spots and light brown on the bottom. Its front feet have black hooves while its back feet have gray bird feet with black talons. With Magic turned on, it turns semi transparent and completely light blue with completely blue glowing eyes.

Adult

Buck

The buck has the build of a deer, with a long torso and four legs. It has a large head with a white face ending in a small gray beak. It has white sharp teeth in its mouth behind the beak. It has large eyes with black pupils, blue irises and white sclera. Around the face is a dark brown that runs from the head to the thick fur around its neck which has a small bit of light brown fur under the chin. It has two rhombus shaped ears on top of its head and two giant black antlers between them. Its is light brown. It has large wings on its sides. Its coverts are the same color as its body with the secondary coverts being white and both the primaries and secondaries being black. It has a deer-like tail with a dark brown top and light brown underside covered by large tail feathers which are white on the top and black on the bottom. Its front feet have black hooves while its back feet have gray bird feet with black talons. With Magic turned on, it turns semi transparent and completely light blue with completely blue glowing eyes. It is larger than the doe.

Doe

The doe has the build of a deer, with a long torso and four legs. It has a large head with a white face ending in a small gray beak. It has white sharp teeth in its mouth behind the beak. It has large eyes with black pupils, blue irises and white sclera. Around the face is a brown that runs from the head across the neck to the body. It has two rhombus shaped ears on top of its head. Its coverts are the same color as its body with the secondary coverts being a lighter brown and both the primaries and secondaries being white. It has a deer-like tail with a brown top and light brown underside covered by large tail feathers which are light brown on the top and white on the bottom. Its front feet have black hooves while its back feet have gray bird feet with black talons. With Magic turned on, it turns semi transparent and completely light blue with completely blue glowing eyes. It is smaller than the buck.

• Fly - Allows peryton to take flight. Can hover in place and only moves with movement inputs. Has a flight trail that emits from wings while moving.

Trivia

• Peryton and Griffin are the only quadruped playables in Feather Family.
  • Peryton's actions and much of its coloring are copied from Griffin. Because of this, the Legs option which colors the bird feet are right after the Front Legs option, which fits for Griffin whose bird feet are in front but not Peryton whose bird feet are in the back.
• Peryton is the first bird whose hatchling can fly.
• Peryton is the first bird to have entirely unique spawns for all stages, being in the Forest graveyard near Volcano. While the other game pass birds have unique spawns of sorts, they all have at least one spawn point shared with all other birds if their biome is chosen as the default spawn area.
• Peryton was by far teased the longest of any bird, appearing as Ghost in October 2022. At one point, an edited version of its buck call would play at 11 PM in-game time every night until release.
• Peryton is tied with Ostrich, Moa, and Elephant Bird for the fastest running playable. It is the only one of these that is not a ratite.
• Peryton is the highest jumping bird in the game, being able to jump around twice its own height.
• Peryton, Griffin and Skeleton are the only birds with unique popups in their customization to show colored parts that do not appear on their model. In Peryton's case, a hollowed out circle with the color of its Magic appears.
• Peryton and Griffin are the only game passes to share the same price of 600 Robux.
• The coloring of the fawn and adults are unusually similar, with the most notable differences being the lack of colorable back on adults, the neck tuft and antlers of the buck and the insides of the ears being colored with Chest on the adults.
• Peryton, Cockatrice and Skeleton are the only birds who can naturally have glowing eyes. Any bird can be given glowing eyes with VIB customization.
• Peryton currently experiences a glitch where if Magic is spammed enough times, the glowing eyes it has in magic stay on the normal form. This cannot be undone and stays until death or morph change.
• Peryton's Eyes state resets between Magic toggle.
• Interestingly, Peryton is not shown in color in its update icon. Phoenix's release icon also showed a black image but not one of the model.
