Appearance
Chick
The chick is a small upright and round bird with long flipper-shaped wings hanging down. It is primarily light gray with a white face and the rest of its head being black. It has a small black beak and tiny feet.
Adult
The is a very tall upright standing bird with long flipper-like wings hanging down. Its face is white with while the top and back of its head are black. It has a fairly long sharp beak with black on the top half and yellow on the bottom half. Its neck has a large band of yellow on it. It has a white belly with a black body. Its wings are black on top and white underneath. It has a small tail tuft with black on the upper part and white on the lower half. It has no visible legs and wide black feet with gray talons.

- Display - Tilts the right side of its body forward as it stretches its right flipper out and flaps it.
- Preen - Cleans chest while the flippers are in the air.
- Eyes - Opens or closes eyes.
- Fly - Displays a message stating that the penguin is flightless.
Trivia
General
- The penguin, like the Auk, Cockatrice, Hesperornis and Cormorant, has a unique ability. When the adult penguin is in water, it will trigger a special swimming animation and give a boost to its movement speed. Like the puffin, carrying birds or items can mess with the swimming.
- The adult penguin has a special way of carrying penguin chicks. When idle or walking, they're seated in its pouch, but once it starts sliding on its stomach or being carried underwater, the young are moved to its back.
- Penguin is the only bird with a unique carrying feature.
- Penguin is the cheapest unlockable which has the inability to fly.
Emperor
- Three of the four NPCs in the game are emperor penguins, using the same base body model as the adult Emperor Penguin.
- Penguin received a slight model and animation change in the Jay update.
- When the penguin first got a remodel, the sprinting animation was just the sped up walk animation. This was later changed to a belly slide animation.
- The penguin is featured in the Christmas icon of Feather Family for both 2019 and 2020.

The chick is a small upright and round bird with long flipper-shaped wings hanging down. It is primarily dull brown with a white belly. It has a large and crooked black beak and brown webbed feet.
Adult
The is a somewhat tall upright standing bird with long flipper-like wings hanging down. Its face is fully black with red eyes, a large orange beak and one bunch of yellow straw-like feathers on each side of the head surrounding a bunch of black straw-like feathers. Its body is black with a white belly and thighs. The undersides of its wings are partly white. It has large pink webbed feet with black talons.
