Moa is a playable bird in Feather Family. It's the third bird of the 2020 Summer of Fossils event.

Appearance

Chick

The chick is primarily a yellowish brown. Its underbelly is a lighter brown than most of its body. The mid body and tail are covered in black spots, while the head has black stripes. It has a light brown around the eyes. The beak and legs are black.

Adult

Male

The male moa is a fairly large bird with mostly dark brown feathers. It has a very large body and a long neck, connecting to its small head with a long and black beak. It has a very dark brown underbelly and chest, with slightly more of an underbelly than the female. It has relatively small wings and large gray legs. It is smaller than the female.

Female

The female moa is a giant bird with mostly medium brown feathers. It has a very large body and a long neck, connecting to its small head with a long and black beak. It has a dark brown underbelly and chest, with slightly less of an underbelly than the male. It has relatively small wings and large gray legs. It is larger than the male.

Actions

Chick

• Run - Speeds up chick walking speed. Triggers running animation.
• Call - Chick chirps.
• Sit - Chick goes into sitting position. Unable to move while sitting.
• Eat - Moves head around while biting and lifting head up and down.
• Hurt - Chick lays on ground, curling up its body and legs.
• Eyes - Opens or closes eyes.
• Grow - Allows chick to grow into an adult moa. Gives the option to grow into a male or a female.

Adult

• Run - Increases moa walking speed. Triggers running animation.
• Call - Moa makes a an extended bellow noise. Male has higher pitched call than female.
• Sit - Moa sits down.
• Eat - Stands on one leg while lifting its head up and down and biting ground.
• Hurt - Lays on side with head bent back.
• Display - Moa sways head from side to side while flopping wings.
• Preen - Moa cleans left wing with beak.
• Eyes - Opens or closes eyes of moa.
• Fly - Displays a message stating that the moa is flightless.

Trivia

• The moa is the third bird of the SoF event, following Archaeopteryx.
• All moa stages received head remodels in the Elephant Bird update.
• The female moa is the largest bird in the game. It can pick up any bird in its beak (except another female moa) and can't fit in the village barn, which every other bird can. In a later update (It is unknown which update) the Female Moa was changed to be able to fit in the village barn.
• The moa is callled "moa" in the menu, though the it is listed as "moabird" in the update descriptions mentioning it.
• The only differences between the male and female moa is that the female is larger and has an underbelly which extends lower than the male, they also have different pitches in their calls.
• The moa is the most expensive bird with sexual dimorphism ,the Confuciusornis being the second most expensive bird with this feature.
• Unlike real moabirds, the Feather Family moa has wings.
• There was a bug where both versions of the adult moa will be merged into one in the customization interface.
