Magpie is a playable bird in Feather Family. It was added on March 8th, 2024.

Appearance

Chick

The chick is a small, primarily black bird. It has brown eyes and a somewhat long gray beak. Its underbelly and thighs are a dull pink. Its legs are gray with feet that have three toes in front and one toe in the back each.

Adult

The adult is a somewhat small, fairly upright bird with black feathers on its head, chest, back and coverts. It has a somewhat long gray beak and brown eyes. Its chest, thighs, shoulders and primaries are white. Its secondaries and outer tail are a dull blue while its inner tail is dull green. Its tail is about as long as its body. Its legs are dark gray with three toes in front and one toe in the back each with a black talon on each one.

The chick is a small, primarily black bird. It has red eyes and a somewhat long gray beak. Its underbelly and thighs are white. Its legs are pink with feet that have three toes in front and one toe in the back each.

Adult

The adult is a medium sized, fairly upright bird with black feathers on its head, throat, chest, shoulders. wings and outer tail. It has a long, slightly curved gray beak with a black tip and red eyes. Its coverts, back and inner tail are white, with its back having gray tear-shaped patterns. Its tail is fairly long. Its legs are dark gray with three toes in front and one toe in the back each with a black talon on each one.

• Magpie is the second bird to be released with a skin, the first being Sandpiper from the previous update.

Australian-Based

• Australian Magpie is the first skin to have multiple names. Skins tend to use one common name.
  • Entire birds like Moa and Harpagornis have had multiple names used for them in ShinyGriffin's messages and NPC dialogue, but Australian Magpie is the first instance of a bird whose name contains two names.
• The adult Australian Magpie seems to reuse the adult Kookaburra's Call animation.
