Kelenken is a playable bird in Feather Family. It's the 4th bird of the 2020 Summer of Fossils event.

Appearance

Chick

The chick is a medium sized bird with a relatively long neck. Its head and neck are light gray, with the head having small messy feathers sprouting from the back. Its beak is a broad and gray while its eyes are white. Its body is a darker gray with small wings and messy feathers on the back. Its legs are bright yellow with three front toes and one back toe on each foot.

Adult

The adult is a very large bird with a relatively long neck and giant legs. Its head is large with a broad and hooked yellow beak, brown eyes and a red face. On the top of its head are small spiked feathers followed by a small feather tuft at the back of the head. These feathers along with the back of the head down to the neck are black. It has a white belly and a light brown body. Both its tail and its wings have inner white feathers and outer black feathers. Its legs are broad and yellow with three front toes and one back toe on each foot.

Adult

• Run - Increases Kelenken walking speed. Triggers sprinting animation.
• Call - Kelenken makes a low pitched echoing squak.

• Eat - Kelenken puts one leg forward and one leg back while moving its head up and down to bite the ground.
• Hurt - Kelenken falls to the side, bending head back.
• Display - Moves head up and and down while spinning its head, aimlessly biting and flapping wings.
• Preen - Kelenken cleans tail feathers with beak.
• Eyes - Opens or closes eyes.
• Fly - Displays a message stating that the Kelenken is flightless.

Trivia

• The Kelenken is the fourth bird in the Summer of Fossils event, following the moa.
• Kelenken got repriced to 1,700 feathers after the addition of Gastornis who now takes the previous price of the Kelenken at 1,600.
  • This makes Kelenken the only Summer of Fossils 2020 bird to not have a price that is a multiple of 200.
• For the update notification about its release given to people who follow the game, the notification refers to kelenken as a 'terror bird', a group which Kelenken and its relatives belong to.
• If you start the Preen emote while standing still and then start walking, the Kelenken's head will be drooping down and a tail feather will poke out. This is most likely a bug.
• The adult Kelenken is among the largest birds in the game.
• In the Ice Mountain lab, Kelenken's skull is the largest displayed skull of them all, while Pelagornis' is the longest.
• Kelenken's eating animation is reused on a few other birds, looking odd on some.
