Jeholornis is a playable bird in Feather Family. It's the second bird of the 2022 Summer of Fossils event, being released on June 17th, 2022.

Appearance

Chick

The chick is small and chubby, with a primarily grey body and a cream mask and underbelly running from its head to near its tail. It has a wide, pink beak that is rounded at the tip and brownish-grey legs. Its wings are sprouting small feathers and end in two talonless fingers. It has a sleek tail, which has a tuft of spiky feathers at its tip.

Adult

The adult is primarily brown, with a rather round figure. It has a light brown mask and underbelly which runs from its head and ends at its tail. The top of its head is black. It has a greyish, rounded beak, from underneath which teeth poke out. It has long wings, with brown coverts that match its body, ending in two taloned fingers, one considerably longer than the other. It has reddish-brown flight feathers and white coverts. It has a sleek, lizard-like tail that has a wide fan that starts at around the midway point and continues to its tip, and a similar fan of feathers at the tail's base. Both feathers are bright red with black tips.

Trivia

• This is the second SoF bird with a real pre-release hint of what it would be.
• When the Jeholornis was first released, the game title and update log in the game's description spelled its name as "Jehol ornis", likely to avoid it being censored by Roblox's chat filter.
• Jeholornis doesn’t accurately resemble any subspecies of jeholornis since it has sharp teeth instead of flat teeth and its tooth orientation is not one seen on any subspecies.
