Griffin is a playable animal in Feather Family. It is a gamepass bird, and can be purchased here.

Appearance

Chick

The chick is a small four legged mammalian creature with a light gray color scheme and small gray beak. It has small round ears and two slim eyes with brown irises. Its underbelly is a cobblestone gray while it has plumage on its small wings, tail base and tail tip that are all dark gray. Its front feet are dark gray bird feet while its back feet are feline feet that match its body color.

Fledgling

The fledgling is a medium sized quadruped mammalian with a mainly brown color scheme. It has differing shades of brown on its medium sized wings. It has a sharp, darkly colored beak and more open eyes. It has a larger tail fan. It has sharp ears and a small cere on its beak.

Adult

Griffin

The griffin is a large quadruped mammalian creature with a brown body. It has a white head with sharp ears and a sharp yellow beak. Its wings and tail have white and peach plumage. It has yellow front legs as well. The head is quite fluffy unlike that of the griffiness. It is also slightly larger than the griffiness.

Hurt - Falls forward sticking one wing far out while rest of body bends back.
Display - Stands on hind legs with wings out and arms forward.
Preen - Griffin licks left front foot.

Rest - Lies with head under wing and tail curled.
Magic - Summons small cloud for griffin to mount and slowly fly on.
Fly - Griffin takes flight. Able to hover in midair and move in any direction at will.

Updated-Based

Modern Griffin is the first skin to function differently from its Classic variant, with it having hover flight. Modern Griffin also differs from Classic Griffin by having sexual dimorphism.
The Display of the adults and Hurt of the fledgling resemble a heraldic griffin, a griffin in an iconic pose used throughout culture.
A Griffin remodel was hinted at years prior to Modern Griffin’s release, though it was initially implied to a minor remodel changing some imperfections as opposed to an entire overhaul.
The chick’s Wing 1 and Tail 1 coloring options have numbers following them despite both only having a set of one.

Appearance

Chick

The chick is mainly gray. It has four legs and two small circular ears. The front feet are that of an eagle and the back of a lion. It has a tuft of fur on its head. It has two small wings and a short tail. The eyes are yellow.

Fledgling

The Fledgling is a lot larger than the chick. The ears form into a more triangular shape than before. It is mainly a light brown, with a white head and neck. The underbelly is a lighter brown than the body. The tail starts to sprout feathers. The eyes and beak are yellow.

Adult

The adult griffin is a massive creature with large wings and a giant tail. Having a similar coloration and build to the fledgling, the adult has a mainly dark brown body with a lighter brown underbelly. Its wing limbs are the same color as the main body, while the feathers are white and a light brown. The griffin's tail is nearly as long as the rest of its body, having large brown tail plumage with a dark brown base. The head is white with a yellow hooked beak and two triangular ears. Its forefeet resembles those of an eagle, being yellow with black talons, while the back feet resemble those of a feline.

Classic-Based

On an unknown date, the Youngling stage had its name changed to Fledgling.
- Additionally, the Lay action exclusive to Griffin was renamed to Lie on an unknown date afterwards.
Griffin is the only quadruped bird in Feather Family.
Griffin is one of the three birds that doesn't spawn at the usual bird spawn, the others being the Phoenix and Cockatrice. The griffin spawns in the Skylands.
ShinyGriffin once said that Griffin would get a minor remodel, as the griffin's model has some errors that will be fixed.
- This came in the form of Modern Griffin.
Unlike Cockatrice and Phoenix, there's no real explanation as to why Griffin has the uncanny ability of walking on clouds. This was likely just something Shiny added to make Griffin seem more like a fantasy creature.
Prior to the 2/15/2021 update, Griffin's eye color could not be saved or loaded from saved color files.
If you use the call while in the adult's Display animation, its wings will tuck into its body. This is a bug.
In the 6/11/2021 update, it was said that it is now possible to color Griffin's tongue with the "extra" option during customization. However there was no such area in the menu until the Vulture remodel.
