Dodo is a playable bird in Feather Family and is the first bird of the 2020 Summer of Fossils event.

Appearance

Chick

The chick is a small, mostly yellow bird. It has gray feet, beak and face. It has white eyes. It has a very small and round body and a rather long neck and very small wings.

Adult

The adult is a medium sized and rather plump, brown bird. It has tiny wings and curly tail feathers. It has a gray beak, face and feet. It keeps the same proportions as the chick, having a chunky body with moderately sized legs and a long beak. The tail feathers sprout out from the back of the body and the beak covers most of the face. The tip of its beak is a black color.

• Eat - Pecks at the ground then slightly raises it's head.
• Hurt - Dodo lays on it's side with one leg stuck out into the air.
• Display - Dodo flaps its wings, wags the tail and opens its beak.
• Preen - Dodo pecks its underbelly.
• Eyes - Eyelids open or close.
• Fly - Displays a message stating that the dodo is flightless.

Trivia

• Dodo is the first extinct bird, opening the Summer of Fossils.
• Dodo is the first bird with a special name color and background on the menu screen.
• Dr. Penguin explains to the player that he brought the dodo back. He later resurrects the rest of the birds in 2020’s Summer of Fossils while Penguin Jr. resurrects the ones from 2022 and together they resurrect the ones of 2023.
• Upon release, adult Dodo’s default color scheme was primarily light brown. On an unrecorded date, it was changed to gray.
  • In the Seagull remodel update, the adult Dodo’s head got a remodel.
  • In the second Sparrow remodel update, the adult Dodo got yet another recolor, though its prior coloration stayed in the game as a realism preset in realism roleplay servers.
• The dodo was the first bird to have a price with four digits.
• Dodo sounds a lot like the pigeon, as pigeons are the closest living relatives to dodo birds.
• Due to the color of the tail feathers and their position, they're not easily visible on the menu screen icon.
• Dodo and Skeleton are the only SoF birds to not have a bone placeholder in their lab test tubes before their release. This is because the lab was added alongside the Dodo.
  • Skeleton’s skull is present in the lab as a hint for Harpagornis, but not Skeleton itself.
