Cockatoo

Cockatoo is a playable bird in Feather Family. It was added on May 1st, 2023, along with Cockatiel being downgraded to a species skin.

Appearance[]

Chick[]

The chick is most gray, with a pink underbelly and face, and large dark gray beak compared to the size of it. It has a small body with a sharp curved beak, a small crest on it's head, and tiny dark reddish-pink feet. It's eyes are a dark reddish-brown tint.

Adult[]

The adult cockatoo is much larger than the chick. It is now nearly entirely white, minus the much larger yellow head crest and dark gray feet. It's beak is still curved, but is no longer large compared to the size of it's face. It's eyes have darkened to a nearly black coloration.

Chick[]

Run - Speeds up chick walking speed.
Call - Chick screeches.
Sit - Chick sits down.
Eat - Chick pecks at the ground.
Hurt - Chick lays flat on the ground, with it's neck slightly pushed to the side
Eyes - Opens or closes eyes.

Adult[]

Run - Increases walking speed. Speeds up walk cycle for both.
Call - A screech-like noise
Sit - Sits down.
Eat - Lifts left foot up and begins eating from the left foot
Hurt - Lays with it's back to the ground, with it's feet curled up and neck rotated to the side.
Display - Flaps it's wings and bobs it's body up and down with it's crest sticking upwards
Preen - Lifts one of it's wings up and begins slowly ruffling it's beak across the coverts.
Eyes - Close or open eyes
Fly - Cockatoo takes flight.

General[]

Cockatoo is the second bird to go on sale (The first being Owl for its first remodel) and the first bird to go on sale temporarily. When it was just Cockatiel, it costed 100 Feathers. When it was changed to Cockatoo and all previous owners of Cockatiel lost ownership, it was put on sale for 10 Feathers. The next update, Cockatoo was put back to 100 Feathers.
The adult's Sit animation when done on the ground will cause its tail to clip into the ground. This animation is shared with Macaw and both skins of Parakeet as an animation intended for perches.

Cockatoo-Based[]

Cockatoo is the first occasion of a species skin taking over as the selectable species and downgrading the former default version.
Cockatoo’s Neck coloring option is unusual among others, coloring a part of the body which isn’t noticeable on the default. This was most likely done for better replication of other species for realism presets.

Cockatiel is a playable bird in Feather Family. It was added on October 3rd 2021 as the only skin, but was turned into an alternate skin for Cockatoo when it released.

Appearance[]

Chick[]

The chick is quite small with a round, chubby body and skinny legs. Its body is almost entirely pink, with the exception of its grey back and crest, and some yellow feathers sticking out throughout its body.

Adult[]

The adult has entirely grey plumage around its wings, neck and body, with a yellow head and spiky crest, and reddish-orange circles on its cheeks. The wings mainly have the same color plumage as the body but with some white primary feathers and dark gray coverts.

Eat - Pecks at ground and bobs head lightly
Hurt - Lays on it's back, with its legs and feet curled up and it's head pointed directly upwards
Display - Aggressive wing flapping with it's crest pointed directly towards the sky and head bobbing
Preen - Shakes a bit, and nibbles at it's coverts and primaries.
Eyes - Closes or opens eyes.
Fly - Cockatiel takes flight.

Cockatiel-Based[]

This is one of the few birds to be exclusively shown as artwork in the game's icons.
There is a bug where if the cockatiel moves after standing still and activating Eat, its mouth will snap open rapidly while moving.
