Carrying is a feature in Feather Family.
Use[]
Carrying is a way for birds to pick up each other. All birds can carry in some capacity except Egg and all its forms. There are three types of carrying: on back, in beak and in foot. Each of these has different mechanics to them. When attempting to carry a player, the player is sent a request asking whether they'd like to be picked up. These requests can be turned off in the settings. Offspring can be carried by their owner, or other players if allowed by the owner's settings, without pickup requests.
Back Carrying[]
Only adult birds (and fledgling Griffin) are able to lift birds on their back. Back and beak have the same threshold of the target bird needing to be "lighter" than the carrying bird. Back carrying does not interfere with object holding.
Beak Carrying[]
Beak carrying, like back carrying, is dependent on the "weight" of the carrying bird and the target bird. All life stages (except every form of Egg) are able to beak carry. If an item is in a bird's mouth and they carry another bird in their mouth, the item will automatically drop.
Foot Carrying[]
Foot carrying shares properties with beak carrying with the exceptions of not interfering with items and, unlike the other kinds of carrying, requiring the target bird to be half of or less than the carrying bird's "weight".
Trivia[]
- Beak and foot carrying was introduced later on in the game's development, while back carrying was in the game for much longer.
- If an adult Penguin of either skin carries a Penguin hatchling, the adult will keep the chick in between its legs while idle or walking. When sprinting or swimming, the baby goes onto the penguin's back.
- To prevent overlapping each other, the "Drop Item" button is shifted beside the "Drop Bird" button on top of the screen.
- Carrying birds can cause issues with swimming.
